ABSTRACT
The JJllf'JJose o/1hi.1 s/ll((l' 11·us lo inres1igu1e 011 !he causes of drug abuse among !he youlhs basically fi-0111 ages (15-]5 years) in Majimazuri division ·within Nyamache district-Kenya ,J desaiplire research design was adopted where the /arget population consisled of youths, parents und /eachers . . I lo/a/ of'70 re.11wnde111s were involved in !he study that included ./0 youths, 20 11are111.1· and 10 1eachers. Queslionnaires and inlerl'iews were !he main tools of data collection. A JJrelesl l'US done lo ascertain the reliability of questionnaires, dala was analyzed using frequencies and gruJJhs and !he resu/1 slunred Iha! the major cause of' drug abuse among the youths is peer JJressure especia/lyfi-om ages ( 15-22 years). /1 11·"·'· ffcommended rhat bo1h parenls and teachers should play a vital role in qffering counseling and hc11·ingfi'ee flt/ks 11·ith !heir childre11/s1ude11ts at this stage (15-22 years) since it is al this slage 11'/ien lh(1' are ct/ !he pectk of' adolescence and are in need of'much attention so as to help reduce or rnr/i rile rnuses ofdrng abuse among !he youths in order lo help the youlhs grow into re/,ponsible citi:::ens.
